FALL APART TERRIBLE TOY DO NOT BUY
THIS POLLY POCKET TRACK IS A WASTE OF MONEY. IT IS FLIMSY. THE SUPPORTS DO NOT SUPPORT THE TRACKS, THEY ARE NOT STURDY ENOUGH. NOT EVEN ON A HARD SURFACE. THE TRACKS DO NOT STAY TOGETHER. THE FORCE USED TO PUSH DOWN THE BUTTON TO SHOOT THE CARS MAKES THE ENTIRE TRACK MOVE THUS BREAK. THAT BUTTON BROKE AFTER TWO TIMES. GENTLE USE TOO. WHEN BUYING THE CARS SEPARATE BE SURE THEY HAVE A HOOK ON THE BOTTOM AS NON OF THE SINGLE ONES WE BOUGHT DID SO THEY WERE NOT NOT NOT COMPATIBLE. THIS SET IS IN THE GARBAGE.
Flimsy and Cheap - please look for something else
Bought this for my daughter's 5th birthday. We've had it 3 weeks. She played with it a few minutes and then would have never touched it again unless someone else played with it first. However, my 22-month-old boy/girl twins love it and can't get enough of it. The 5 yo now likes to play with it with her siblings. The cars go around the track as they should although sometimes they will fly off the track when you hit the plunger - this kids don't seem to mind this.
The bad part. I can't express strongly enough how very flimsy and cheap this thing is. My children don't abuse it, but the slightest nudge will cause the tracks to break apart or the track supports to fall apart. If it is hit a little harder than a nudge, the whole thing will fall apart including the tiny "mall" area (which also acts as a support for the whole thing). It's a pain to put together for two reasons: 1) you have to put it together about every two minutes of play (no exaggeration here) and 2) when putting one part together, you are likely to break another area apart. On top of all this, many of the purple supports are already showing white stress areas indicating that they will snap in two in a short amount of time.
Other observations: this is strictly a car track. The dolls are so tiny (about an inch in height) and the mall area so small as to render both practically useless. In fact, my kids don't play with the dolls at all. They fall out of the cars very easily despite a plastic band designed to keep them in the car.
I can forgive a lot in a toy - especially one so cheap. However, the fact that I literally have to put it back together for every two to three minutes of play, overshadows any good traits. I cannot recommend this toy to anyone.
Non-stop fun
I bought this after reading all the good and bad reviews it had. It ended up being a great toy. My girl's are 4 and 6, and they've loved all the Polly Pockets that came with it and the track itself. When someone comes for a visit, their kids love it, too! I think I definately got my money's worth.
Polly Pocket "Race to the Dump"
This was at the very top of my daughter's Christmas list last year. It was a great concept- about time there was a race track designed with girls in mind. On Christmas Eve it took my husband who has a master's degree and my brother-in-law who is an aeronautical engineer an hour and a half to put the thing together. Not because they couldn't understand the directions, but because the quality of the plastic was so flimsy. The pieces wouldn't snap together firmly or stay together, and there was one piece that wouldn't snap with anything. I was pretty disappointed that we were having to use packing tape on something that was brand new right out of the box. The kids did think it was a fun toy, but they never played with the little tiny pieces which were pretty much useless, and since the track is self propelling, playing with it pretty much consists of the kids shooting the cars once and then sitting and watching them go around the track. They don't have to use their imaginations enough to make this a lasting toy. They still play with the cars, but no longer ask for the track. Unless this will make or break your child's belief in Santa, I wouldn't waste the money!
Nice idea, not worth the money
What a great idea, right? Girls love race tracks just as much as boys (I always wanted one!), and this one is PINK. But it is complicated to assemble (my 9 yo can't even begin), and constantly falls apart. Santa brought this for Christmas last year, and the girls did play with it...until it fell apart. Since then it has lied in many, many pieces in a bag in a closet. The girls aren't interested because it keeps falling apart, and I simply don't have time to keep digging out the instructions and putting it back together. It was a waste of money.
